Welcome to NCAAIL - 2024...
The Central Library, Nandha College of Technology and the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS) jointly together organize a National Conference on “NCAAIL 2024 : Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Libraries” on 20th April 2024.
The NCAAIL 2024 organizing committee extends a warm welcome to the participants of conference – LIS professionals, students, research scholars, IT professionals, knowledge workers and managers, information specialists, content managers, educationists and faculty members.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the emerging trends and applications of computing in libraries. It involves programming computers to do things, which is done by humans, which also would be said to require intelligence. The ultimate promise of artificial intelligence in libraries is to develop computer systems or machines that think, behave, and in fact rival human intelligence, and this clearly has major implications on librarianship. The application of artificial intelligence in the library has become pervasive. They include expert systems for reference services, book reading and shelf- reading robots, virtual reality for immersive learning among others. Although the incorporation of artificial intelligence in libraries can be perceived to alienate librarians from their users, it will probably help libraries do more than taking over the jobs of librarians. It will enhance their services and content delivery. Artificial intelligence will greatly improve library operations and services and will also upgrade and heighten relevance of libraries in an ever-changing digital society.
We are sure that the participants will be immensely benefitted by attending this conference.
We once again extend our warm greetings and a warm welcome to all of you and we also convey our wishes for the success of the conference.
